That some people on here can raise a whole lot more "stuff" than my comments did, but it doesn't raise an eyebrow by the elite in here.
No, I've not posted a picture in here for awhile... for one thing, I don't like the one image rule. For another, the pictures I've been taking don't fit under the Nature thyme of this site. I guess I could post pictures of dogs and planes and bottles and glass and such... or I could post old picture like some do. But I don't. And I didn't realize that it was a requirement that we had to post images. And I didn't realize that it was a requirement that we all only post pats on the back of images that don't deserve a pat on the back? Although that seems to be the requirement, which is why I've not posted a lot of comments on images posted. And Erik, you are wrong about me only posting to stir things up. Should I check the numbers on that as well? Naw, it's not worth the trouble.
This place has changed. I guess that's why there are people that use to post regularly no longer post anymore. Maybe that's why some are worried when another site is mentioned that might give people an alternative place to post their pictures? How many times has Fred Miranda or some of the other sites been mentioned in here? At least a few times.
Oh well, if some of you want to take my statement as a put down, that's your problem, not mine. I know what it was meant to be and how I meant it. You guys can have your forum and continue to pat each other on the back with the pictures you post. You won't have to worry about me only posting to stir things up or ruffle feathers any more.
I don't know anything about these comments (well, I know a little about them) and don't wish to even put a foot in the debate. I wanted to say however that each forum has it's own flavor and I've learned to appreciate this forum. The new image rule, Mike is for images up to 720 pix on the widest - I can live with that. Comments here are a lot more objective and a lot less gushy than that "other" forum you mentioned above - which I also still frequent because they each have their place just like chocolate and vanilla ice cream (which I love to eat swirled together).
Sounds like you might not be back to read this, but sorry to see you go... us PNW'ers gotta stick together somewhere.
I'm sorry for all this, it certainly isn't how I think things are in a "normal" day to day experience of this forum. I don't believe that anyone meant you any harm.
There is not a requirement to post images on some sort of schedule, although I do feel that the primary purpose of the forum is the posting of and polite critiquing of images and in order to get high quality critiques one has to give them. Nor is it required that critiques are only complimentary. Instead critiques ought to be politely critical. If in one's opinion an image needs some further work it is certainly expected that the person critiquing say so. Again in a polite manner.
As a moderator of this forum I frequent Fred Miranda's website quite often, among others. Although the vast bulk of my posting occurs here. I think I've only been to AJ's website once or twice and NSN once. My decision is to give as much as I can here.
For me this forum fits my needs. I don't expect it to fit everyone's needs. If for whatever reason it no longer fits your needs Mike I think that would be a loss for us all. You've provided plenty of good critiques and friendship that I can comfortably say we will all miss.
I bothers me to read these types of posts as there are far too many opportunities to misinterpret one's meaning when words are typed. The only reason that I read this dialogue was the glaring mention of my name. I have no deisre to try to discern who meant what, only to let you all know that I am glad that those of you who find this site, NWPhotographers.net or any other site for that matter, a place where you choose to particiapte and share in what we all seem to love to do. I ask that when you read this post and any others that may make mention of "AJ's site", that you please consider that is not "my" site, it is one where those who have chosen to participate on it have found comfort in sharing in photography.
