Hi Keith, if you perhaps were able to have moved to your right to get more of the lovely diffused BKG, this would have been a real corker of an image, sadly for me the brighter, OOF leaves are a little distracting. If this is a crop, then maybe having the subject slightly smaller and more of a 'rectangular' crop could also work, although based on the existing crop a portrait is a wee bit tight I feel. The perch is nicely in pro with the subject and although broken at the end, typifies these natural perches you get. Nice work Keith, keep them coming and nice to see a different species. :toast:

I agree with the leaves but a slight vignetting might help on this crop. :toast: :toast:

Good to see something a little different. I too would like to see a more rectangular crop if possible.

:wavey: I would prefer rectangular as well but think it is colourful and full of detail, Neil's suggestion should help the BG :toast: :toast: :toast: :toast:

Thanks guys I did wonder about the cropping but I would like to keep the end of the perch in the image ,I have lots of shots of these birds so I will try a different crop.

Keith, are you saying that the image area is FF to the LHS, or is there more image? If so, include the broken end, just extend the LHS to make a more rectangular format.

Much prefer the first one . This looks a little lost in the backdrop somehow. Presume its a different pic.

Hi Keith, cropping less is more in keeping with the subject and it's environment/habitat and close to how you shot it. Although the OP displays the bird more, I feel it's a little BIF, however just down to how you wish to portray your subject, either works, just personal choice. Post it in Avian to get more feedback, can't do any harm and good to get other views. Impressed with the D4 and how far you can crop with an image.

Look forward to seeing more from your trip. :wavey:

Keith's it's a fantastic bird, I think I prefer the first image as I find it less cluttered :toast:
