Hello. Ive posted on NPN before, but this my first on UKNP.
It's been a cloudy day so far today. so it was an excuse to
avoid the cliched blue skies. The advantage of my obsolescent
Sony DSC F717 is its swivelling body to enable me to try a
different angle on the subject.
Sony DSC F717 hand held, fill in flash.
Any comments on improving this photo will be most welcome.
David, thank you for being the first to comment on my debut posting. After seeing your
posts it is praise indeed. I've got mountains to climb but I'll keep on trying!
Yep I like it. A powerful composition, the sky is excellent and your fill flash has worked well to light the flower head against the sky. I might prefer a bit more space around the dandelion as it is touching the very edges of the frame. Otherwise a great first post, a good idea, good composition, and technically fine.
A different view on a common subject is always refreshing and very welcome. Although I would agree with previous comment on tightness of frame, however this does also add to the dramatic composition. The fill-in flash has worked on the top of the flowers head but not the underside where you really need it (the main drawback of fixed top mounted flash). You could try turning the camera upside down so the flash is underneath, then rotate the image back in photoshop. Look forward to seeing more of your work.
