Went out shooting the new camera for the first time today, and I can tell you this is a great camera. First with all those magapixels cropping is a breeze. The autofocus is much improved over the d7000, d5100 etc etc. I love the auto ISO function it allows me to choose max ISO and the lowest shutter speed I want and will keep the setting between those settings. And for us bird and wildlife shooters the 1.3x crop mode is amazing almost doubling the length of your lens with the 1.5 crop sensor in the camera still giving you a 16 million megapixel photo. I hate nikons view nx2 program and am waiting for lightroom to add the d7100 hopefully soon!!!.

Glad to hear your report. I am using two D300's and a D700.
I keep hoping against hope that Nikon will wise up and come out with the "D400" replacement for my D300's.
If they don't do it pretty soon, this so called "Pro-sumer" will ending up buyint a supposedly "consumer," camera. LOL
Moose Peterson seems to like it too.
Let us know more from time to time to keep our appitite wetted.
thanks and good shooting.

Interesting Wade... as far as I know it's not released until the 21st. Good for you! Just a bit envious over here!
Shipping date was 14th with release the 15th.
I agree with Wade, a great addition to the Nikon line at a reasonable price.

@ Malcom, interesting... maybe Amazon wasn't going to have them until the 21st.

Interesting to hear your views on the D7100 Wade. I'm waiting to get a hands on look at one myself.
Surprised you prefer Lightroom to NX2. Lightroom has got to be the most un-intuitive program ever.

Martin there was a time I would have agreed with you about LR, but after working with version 4 for about a year now, I love it. Can't imagine using anything else now.
