Hi folks,

Managed to get a day off today and took my Mum to see the Otters - just loved the look on her face when she saw them!

Getting a bit better photographically, though this is cropped top and left as I totally messed up on the composition.

Nikon D300s, Sigma 500mm f4.5

1/400sec @ f5.6 ISO-800 0.3exp comp

Cropped top and left, levels tweaked and sharpen for web.

C and C most welcome,

Thanks for looking!

Blobs at the bootom are a bit off putting but the rest is just great!

I go with Neil on the blobs. The BG is great but perhaps tone down the top of the head a little  Great to so an otter though.

I also agree with Neil about the blobs, but I would go further and shave some off the top as well to give a letterbox shaped image.

Dawn would have liked to see the rest of the animal but the part you got looks very good to me.
Not a lot happening on here at the moment

Love the Brylcream look...

The harsh lighting hasn't helped you, but thats nature photography for you..... right place right time, diffcult lighting.

I think you could tone down the highlights and increase mid tone contrast which would help darken the foreground a bit as well and give the background some more punch.

Fantastic otter portait Dawn with a superb BG. Lots of detail to take in.

Very nice Dawn, like the eye contact, although I find the fg a little distracting and think it might have been better had you been shooting from a higher angle? :toast:
