I went out last night to shoot the Joshua trees out on the way to Vegas and had quite a difficult time finding compositions and stars. The moon was bright and consumed many of the stars that would be visible out there, but I think I got a few interesting images. Definitely have to return out there when there is no moon and get there before it's dark to find compositions.
This is a wonderful 'blue' perspective, Peter! Really well thought out and creatively executed. I like it a lot!
I'm on the fence about the few minor star trails...assets or distractions?
You might also consider darkening or 'eliminating' the brighter frond in the upper left quadrant. Minor nits, though.
An excellent and unique image! You on your way to somewhere?

Thanks John. I would have preferred pinpoint stars or longer trails but it might have been difficult since the moon was so bright. I'm not on my way anywhere this weekend, just pointing out that this area is on the way to Vegas. Got a small trip planned in a few weeks that I'm excited about.

Great light! I don't mind he star trails because there aren't too many thanks to our neighboring satellite. I saw them and it instantly resolved the time spent getting the exposure. It's quite a different feel in subject, tone and comp. Two Thumbs Up!

Love the comp and tone. Good work and perserverence.
Really cool shot, Peter! It's certainly a unique presentation of the subject, and the moonglow you captured is wonderfully smooth and beautiful.

This is outstanding, Peter! I find myself mesmerized by the lighting in this image. I'm also on the fence about the star trails, but I don't think its anything to worry about. Really nice work!

I love the cool tone and the comp here. The star trails don't bother me at all. I would love to see this bigger!

Great original work Peter! I like the milkiness of the sky and the color of the light on the foreground branch. I'm assuming you light painted that given the other part of the tree blocking the moonlight. If so you did a great job matching the color temperature of the scene.
