Just back from my annual March trip to Phoenix for a visit with my daughter and granddaughter, some baseball, warm weather, and some photography if time permits. This year I met up with Bob Falcone who was in the area for sunrise near Saguaro Lake, east of Scottsdale. I'd read online that the wildflowers were "spotty but good" on the Bush Hwy. As luck would have it, the area is much better as a sunset location than sunrise but I did manage a couple of images. I wasn't able to find time to get back there for sunset but saw a shot of Bob's that is pretty sweet. Hopefully we'll see it here soon.
BTW, it was low to mid 80's every day we were there. 60 degrees at 6am in Mesa when we got to the airport, 7 degrees in Parker at the same time. 22 degrees when we landed at DIA and my coat....MIA. Hanging on the rack at home. Fabulous
#1 Poppies, Lupines, and cacti. Beauties and the beast.
#3 I'm a sucker for backlit and sidelit Chollas. Just need to learn to stay further from them.

Glad you were able to get out and enjoy the wildflowers and beautiful weather we are having. Looks like you were able to visit some good spots while you were down here as well.
What Peter said. Sounds like you had a great (and warm!) time.

Thanks Bill... I'll be down in Phoenix for Easter and the reports and pix, including yours, tells me maybe I should take Mom on an Easter Safari.
The Chollas - we have something, if not the same thing - along the foothills along the base of Mt Charleston / Spring Mtns out here in Vegas - Pahrump. During the spring, some sort of flying insect makes these huge cacoons in them - it all looks very "Alien" pod like - scares me just jeeping past them as if one would open up on me
Karl I hope the flowers are still out there. Maybe if there's a little rain this week they'll hang around. It cooled off Saturday night Sunday so maybe there's a storm coming. I had never been up to Saguaro Lake and it's a really nice drive. There's an area called Bulldog Cliffs that lights up nicely at sunset based on the images I saw from Bob Falcone.
The Jumping Chollas...no matter how hard I try and how much I concentrate I always end up with several golf ball size clumps attached to my person when I'm out shooting chollas. it's almost as if they're magnetic.
Enjoy your trip.

Hey Bill, sorry I stood you up, these things happen. Glad you got out to shoot, you made me realize how much I'm missing down here... need to get OUT!

Very nice, Bill!
It was nice meeting up with you down there (and with such wonderful weather).

#1 is definitely my favorite, such great warm light throughout and I like the cactus in the background. My only suggestion might be to lighten the area in shadow in the LLC to lessen it's impact on the image.
