Bulldog Cliffs (edited photos added)
As Bill Bean mentioned, we ran into each other while looking for sunrise shots on road to Saguaro Lake. Not much for sunrise, but there were wildflowers. The night before I had gone out to the same area looking for sunset photos and found this spot.
It's not perfect, but has potential...

This is one of my favorite places for sunset. The cliffs light up beautifully and you can usually get a really good reflection in the water. Unfortunately, this time of year along the river everything is dead and just starting to recover to their late spring and summer greens. Hopefully there were lots of wildflowers to shoot around here. It is worth visiting this spot in December, when the fall colors line the banks of the river.

Thanks, Peter!
There were patches of wildflowers along the road that Bill and I saw the next morning. Unfortunately, the poppies were still closed up when I was there, and I had to leave before they opened up to meet with someone. And it was my last morning there. :frown: But...now that I know about this area, I'll revisit it next year.
As for Bulldog Cliffs, I kept thinking that it would be a nice place to shoot during the monsoon season when the river would be higher, and clouds in the sky...

It is good during the summer light wise, but definitely go on a weekday. Summer on the river brings tubers and they tend to trash the place up pretty good.

A fine composition and a worthy inclusion for your next calendar (hint, hint).
You might check your histogram as it's a wee bit underexposed. Also, if you have a Shadows/Highlight type of adjustment with PSP, you might try it to even out the tonality from dark (right) to bright (left). I'll post or email you an example if you wish.

Thanks for the suggestions, John! And yeah, post or e-mail an example!

Great comp Bob, those cliffs light up pretty nice. I might be tempted to crop out the large rocks at the bottom of the image as they are cut off and just clutter the image to my eye. I also agree with John about the image looking a tad dark. Nice work!

Thanks Scott. I have some from different vantage points with out the foreground rocks that I'll post.

Here's the same photo with some exposure adjustments. Thoughts?

From another vantage point (no rocks in immediate foreground)

Well done, Bob!
My vote goes to the one without the foreground. I just prefer the entire reflection. How 'bout you?

I agree, John, and thanks for your guidance!

One more for the no rocks in the foreground. Nice shot.

Bob, my preference is for the last with no foreground rocks to allow the entire reflection. It looks a little bright on the left side for both rock and sky; maybe something like halfway to #1?

Thanks Morris and Doug! Doug, I have noticed that the left is a little bright and need to work on it a bit. Appreciate everyone's feedback!
