The Man Wanted Birds....
Here's cormorants, chosen at semi-random & rendered within the limits of available glass & physical location (getting any closer would put one in a lake full of alligators...)

If one really objected to the lack of birds at this site, and were quantitatively inclined, he could attempt to count the geese in Randay Hanna's recent posts.

If one feels there is a lack of critiquing at this site, view the threads from my recent posts. Bring it on guys (and gals), that's what I'm here for.

A willing poster that's what I like!!!

My initial thought upon looking this over is it needs more contrast - a LOT more. This is scanned right Eric? Depending on what film scanner one uses, and the scanning application, one can adjust the contrast prior to scanning.

The empty sky to the right isn't really adding much other than well empty sky. I advise cropping just past the end of that tree limb. Actually put that upper most cormorant and tree limb in the upper right hand corner and call it good.

Where's that aligator repellant when ya need it - I mean really!! DOH!!

Eric,
I agree with Rick that it does need more contrast and with his cropping suggestions. One thing I do think is that this is a unique and interesting image.

Hi Eric - yes, it's birds we want, more birds!

I agree with Rick's suggestions. I was thinking that cropping this to a 3:2 aspect ratio with the righthand cormorant in the upper right corner just as Rick suggests. The 3:2 ratio will also cause a crop off of the bottom.

It really does seem like there is some meaningful cormorant to cormorant interaction going on here and that makes this all the more interesting!

Thanks for posting this Eric!

Edit: I just noticed the 3rd cormorant at bottom! Oops. My crop suggestion would get rid of that one but perhaps that's ok since it is rendered pretty hard to see by the leaves and branches it is in.
