Wood Pigeon portrait
More testing with the 300mm plus 2x converter.

Taking a leaf out of JR book, taken from inside the house through the patio door with curtains pegged together around the lens as a makeshift hide. The pigeon's attention drawn by wiggling my fingers through the curtains.....

Olympus E3, 300mm f2.8 plus 2x TC, iso 400, 1/80s at F8, tripod. Full frame image and resized. I must admit to some processing work to the background with additional selective blurring and contrast control to make the subject pop more against the background.

There is a very obvious pale spot toward the top left of the frame that caught my eye. Perhaps consider bringing the right border in so that that the birds body is sat in the corner thus removing the distracting BG in the bottom right. A square crop could suit this one Mike:wink:

I agree with Bob about losing some canvas on the right, but would add extra on the left and avoid the square shape if possible.

I agree with David about the composition here, but very good detail :toast:

As a test for detail it looks perfectly in order.
