I purchased a Nikkor 600mm lens and want to purchase a lens case that will allow me to store the lens with the D800 attached. Any suggestions?

My preference always is the Pelican cases - flexible and safe from dust and humidity - just got to chose the one that does the job

I just bought a Tamrac 5793 for my 600 mm, which is an extremely handy backpack for long lenses and besides the lens with the camera attached you have some extra space for memory cards, a water bottle, a tripod and some other small stuff. It also has a rain cover. I am really pleased with it, because it makes carrying this heavy lens a lot easier.

Patrick, I've been using a LowePro 600AWII - it accommodates my 600mm lens with camera attached, but the hood must be collapsed. One advantage of this bag is that it has a great harness and waist belt system, and an accessory attachment system that permits up to 8 more lens cases for smaller lenses attached to it, and will carry a Gitzo series 5 carbon. It has a great front zippered pocket and will also store 8 memory cards in the top of front flap.It really is a very useful bag, and very customizable.

depends on how much portability you're looking for, but if you want a highly portable backpack-type case with a good support/carrying system, Kinesis makes an excellent one.
