Streptopelia turtur
Hi folks,
Quite an oldish one here. Just having a go at reprocessing using Lightroom instead of PS. Liking it so far, seems much gentler on the photos! Bit of a learning curve though as I've always used Photoshop.
Turtle doves really need our help, they've suffered a massive decline - we really are at risk of losing them as a British breeding bird. Operation Turtle Dove is trying to reverse this decline - take a look at their website here: http://operationturtledove.org/
They'll be arriving back soon, and I can't wait! Hope I'll get to photograph them again this year. If you see one please report it to Operation Turtle Dove to support their excellent work
All I would do is crop to the same proportions but to exclude the in focus daisy on the right... a wonderful species not seen very often portrayed very well...

Beautiful photo Dawn, I agree with Phil, a little less central and exclude the daisy in focus would work nicer. But its a minor nit for me.
Stunning shot Dawn!
How i would love to have one like this in my files but this bird is very scarse here in Holland and i have only seen one once or twice..
Well done!
I have rarely seen these on the ground, even on trips abroad, so this is quite a unique image for the UK. TD are most likely to be encountered purring from dense tree cover from my experiences!
Interesting there is a monitoring organisation now
