Noiseware Pro vs NIK Define vs Noise Ninja

I have used Noise Ninja years ago and then switched to Noiseware Pro about 3 years ago. With the free release of NIK software I have tried NIK Define and was impressed. The Noiseware people have changed the original product quite a bit last year. Localized application of noise reduction to images has been either eliminated or made more difficult. I am not sure I like the new interface and results. I tried NIK Define on an ISO 3200 7D file and was impressed with the results.

The NIK interface seems easy and the automatic creation of a layer seems beneficial. I know I have not mentioned Topaz, but I have no experience with this one.

What have you all found? Which do you find to work best?

Ed, although I would admit to only having used NIK, I do like it's ability as a good noise reducer. As I do not find a large degree of noise in my images, I do find it seems to knock down the ones that do have a problem. With NIK now having a package deal going you might also benefit from their other programs as well. I received the recent upgrade and look forward to working with the packages I did not have prior to the auto upgrade. I had their Define 2 and Pro Sharpener 3 already, so, the others are new to me at this point.

Thanks for the response Paul. As a long time user of Viveza 2 I got the free upgrade to the entire suite. That's how I came to test Define.

You will love Viveza. It is absolutely great for local adjustments of color and tone. I use it a lot!

Ed, hoe do you l ike Nik Define vs. Noise Ninja? I've used Noise Ninja for years and have been satisfied, but have wondered about the Nik product.

Bill, so far I like it a lot. The ability to have control points and an entire seperate layer are super. Still learning and experimenting.

Go Nik's Home page and find the learn section. There a numerous tutorials by very competent individuals on the use of all Nik products.
