Last Light on Haw Creek
Most of the dyed-in-the-wool Arkansas waterfallers know Haw Creek and the falls that bear it's name. After a long day guiding friends to 4 locations where they could get their feet wet(really they tried not to get their feet wet..yours truly in the flow right up to my belt line)-we ended up at this spot below the big falls and I saw some opportunity. The water was cold, the flow was steady, the light was good, and the moment was sublime. One of the guys had already crapped out in the truck...but here I was....

Great light, indeed, Bob. The reward for getting wet! Suggestion, I would crop the extreme upper right and eliminate the sky. Great work! Are you planning on coming to the Gathering this weekend?

Nicely done, Bob! Great little creek to explore. I would agree with Tom's suggestion to crop the piece of sky at the top.

Nice catch on the bit of sky guys. When I print I will adjust.

Waist deep in cold water? That's pretty hard core but well worth it. I agree with the cropping suggestion but otherwise looks great.

I am not as hard core as a famous nature photographer that I know.....but I will try what I can do to get a shot...

Update kids..on a whim I submitted this image to a contest that Peachpit Press was having and wonder upon wonders..I won SECOND place!! This gets me a copy of the book written by the single judge and three other Peachpit titles of my choice AND a $100 credit from Artistic Photo Canvas. Odds must have played a part as there appears to only have been 60 submissions with the subject being"Light"..however you wanted to play. I told a famous nature photogrqapher I guess it is time to quit the real world job and move to Alaska to be a famous nature photographer..seriously I looked at all the entries and I would have picked at least half of them ahead of mine...no accounting for taste. At least I will have some reference books on Photoshop on the shelf and can call myself a winner!
