Happened to catch this handsome lad out in the open water at Juanita Bay Park in Kirkland back in February. Not so well camouflaged out in the open, he looks a bit flamboyant. I cropped this quite a bit, so it looks a bit painterly; admittedly not as crisp as I might like. Still, this is one of my best shots of a swimming Wood Duck yet, and I wanted to show him off.
Definitely am liking the NIK plug-ins, which were used in post-processing this image.

Hope everyone is getting out to shoot, AND don't forget to post 'em for the Spring Contest!! Who's gonna break the ice this time?
That's a prize winning woody Catherine. You have to just love the water reflection and his colors. A great shot, Congrats. Just got back from Tule Lake, below Klamath Falls. Two days and over 1.900 images later........ I'll be sorting thru images looking for the best ones for weeks.
Have a great week, Craig

Nice, Catherine. Excellent job on the exposure of a very difficult subject.

Such beautiful color! It is a bit soft, but no worries, he looks quite dapper.
