Glacier NP and Triple Falls Anyone?

I'm looking for anyone who'd like to meet up sometime in mid to late July in Glacier NP with the goal, among other things, of hiking from the Logan Pass Trail to the Triple Falls.

I've figured out a more horizontal route from the trail to the falls and back, and would like to make the trek. However, accounts of some others seeing bears in the vicinity have led me to the conclusion that such a trek is best made in the company of one or two others.

Any adventuresome takers?

Wish I could make it, Howard. One thing to be aware of: park staff frequently close/restrict access to Triple Falls in the summer. You might make a call to the park prior to driving up there to determine if it's even open.

Bret, do you think earlier in June would be a better time?

Howard, I'll be in Glacier late July early August and have thought about getting to triple falls. It is not high on my list because I've seen so many photos from here, but if it is open I might make the hike out there. I'll be with a few others myself and have bear spray.

Glacier is very much on my white board this year. I was originally thinking as part of a workshop - for the expertise and for protection.

But if a decent NPN group forms, I would be 50/50 at this moment. There is some other timing I am working around with a possibleSan Juans trip July 24-28. Not certain that happens. But if it doesnt happen, it certainly ups my interest for Glacier.

I went to Glacier last summer during the week of the 4th of July. I hiked all over out there and didn't find it. I think it was still buried under the snowpack. I do not know how their snowfall total this year compares to last. Just my bit of info. Good luck!

FYI, Triple Falls typically doesn't melt (the snow on it) until the end of July/beginning of August. I photographed it August 7th last year and according to my friend who worked up there all last summer it had only thawed 3 days before. When I was there on July 15th, 2010 the whole area was still under snow.

Also, I have exact GPS coordinates and my approach route if you need it.

I would potentially be up for that. I currently don't have anything scheduled for August and this will be a bad whitewater season so I'm anticipating that kayak season will be over with by then. Remind me in July if you're still heading up there.
