Using Rod Cells
I had some down time the past few weekends, so spent some time with NIK silver efex doing some black and white conversions and reworking past ones. Feel open to let me know what you think I'm doing right and wrong, as monochrome is a new and different world. Basically, I chose which preset in NIK looked best, adjusted the contrast, highlight, shadow sliders, and then in PSE adjusted levels, brightness, contrast and midtone contrast to taste.

I have placed the conversions in a website gallery. Thanks.

The conversions look great Doug. Been playing with some conversions myself, but just PS conversions. No nits from me.

Very nice work on the conversions Doug, I particularly enjoyed Storm Pocket and Brain Matter, and not a bad one in the bunch.

I like all the images in your set a lot, but particularly this one, with great drama, wonderful sense of depth.

Well, for someone for whom 'monochrome is a new and different world', you've certainly adapted to it well here!
Your choices were excellent as was your rendering. The one you posted here and 'Candy Storm' are especially fine, but really all look wonderful. No nits from me at all.

A really excellent series of b&w, Doug. All are very well done, with the Lower Antelope Canyon being my favorite of this group.

Those are all very nicely done Doug! I love the way BW makes the texture jump right out.

Sweet--they all look great to me Doug! I especially like the hoodoos and conifer-thru-the aspens. :wavey:
