I'm in the process of applying for camp spots on the White Rim Trail in Canyonlands for Labor Day week. Myself and two vehicles of friends from Iowa. I wanted to know what are peoples favorite camp spots photo wise? We will be going east to west and are planning 3 nights on the rim. Thanks in advance!

Its been awhile since I made that trip, I originally planned 3 nights as well staying at Airport, Murphy and Potato Bottom. However, I ended up just staying the first 2 nights because I honestly thought the Green River side was kinda ugly compared to the Colorado River side and just drove out instead of staying the last night. I thought that Potato Bottom and Hardscrabble were pretty ugly places to camp compared to the rest. I think the best sites I saw were at White Crack and I kicked myself for not requesting a spot there. I liked the view at Airport, and its close to Washer Woman. Murphy was a good spot as well and I think Candlestick would be as far west as I'd stay before just driving out -- it looked like decent area. That said, if you want to make the side trip to Zeus and Moses, the Taylor camp is also a good bet. I am obviously biased toward the Colorado (east) side, so I'm sure others might like the Green side more. Personally, I'd probably pick one east side spot like Airport or Gooseberry, one in the middle -- either White Crack or Murphy and then one night out at Taylor.

No problem -- its a fun trip. I am sure I'll even do it again. If you want to really get the full experience, you gotta sleep under the stars -- sans tent. Its amazing.
