What do folks here think of the newly introduced Canon SL1?

It's got the same specs as the T3i/T4i image/sensor-wise, yet it weight 13 ounces and is 15% smaller. Sounds like a backpacking dream! The crop sensor may not be ideal for huge scenics but for birding and wildlife the weight is surely attractive. They didn't include GPS for geotagging on this one and there's no weather sealing, probably the two hikers' drawbacks. But the weight... like a feather!
Thanks for your thoughts, Paul. I am indeed looking at this lightweight camera for backpacking trips. I am hoping it is compatible with regular Canon lenses that work on full-frame bodies.

Anil - As part of the EOS line (not EOS M), that camera has the same lens mount as all Canon DSLRs. The hybrid autofocus system (on-sensor phase detection) will only fully work with the STM lenses (but will still partly work with any EF lens - whatever that means). It also has a standard 9 point SLR autofocus system. By all accounts I've seen, the hybrid system is just fair (i.e. pretty slow), and I think many folks will mainly use the usual 9 point system.
