Anyone Using Acorn?

Adobe Photoshop is pricing itself out of my comfort range and the on-line model is impossible with the lousy bandwidth where I live. I'm casting about for an alternative.

Has anyone used Acorn? Any impressions?

Thanks.

I guess not, Jim.

Hi, Jim-
I had never heard of Acorn until I saw your post. So I clicked the link and reviewed what the company has to say about their product. Sounds absolutely great-- something like a photoshop-Illustrator-NIK fusion. For the price, I might buy it just to try it. Tickles the "it's too good to be true" nerve, but I am so done with Adobe!
I'm glad you posted your question! Did you decide to try it?

Catherine, if you decide to try out Acorn, please let us know what you think of it.

Thanks.

I haven't looked closely at Acorn. I think Pixelmator merits closer scrutiny.

This looks like a nice program. Unfortunately, it's Mac only.

As Mark mentioned, consider Pixelmator, now in release 2.2 from the Apple app store for only $15. I have the older 1.6.7 (it came as part of a bundle).

One of the nice features of Pixelmator is that it uses the Mac core raw file function so if you can view a raw file in Preview or any of the other Mac native apps then Pixelmator can read it as well.
