Sunning water boatman
A bit of behaviour I haven't seen before - water boatman hauling itself onto plantain stems, presumably sunning itself. Several individuals were exhibiting the same behaviour today in my little pond. Very nervoius out of the water any slight movement and they dived back into the water.

Olympus E-3, 150mm f2 plus 2x converter, iso 200, 1/100s at F5.6, tripod. Cropped for presentation

Thats very unusual Mike ! 50 years working with fresh water and never seen it !
Seems they do this prior to taking flight . You learn something every day !
Cheers

Mike

A unique capture, I've never seen them exit the water.
