I FINALLY got out for some shooting this past weekend!! Jason Hatfield and I went up to Devils Tower for some night shots and to catch a couple meteors. I haven't gone through all the images yet but got this one which I really liked.
I want to say that David Kingham's night presets for Lightroom are just awesome...makes for easy processing...thank you David.
After a six month break from shooting, it was so relaxing to be outside, sleeping under the stars and enjoying the solitude of nature.
David Kingham was there and said some of the light pollution was from a small town close by and some was from the moon as it was beginning to rise where the bright spot is Bill.
Jack, this is awesome. Composition and processing are spot on and I'm jealous as heck. Hope my night shots improve radically this summer. Next time I see you I'll be picking your brain for data.

Jack, very nicely done. The colors in the MW sky and the glowing clouds are catching.
Excellent work! What a wonderful place to indulge in some 'starscapes'.I also have David's Night Photography LR/ACR Presets but have not used them yet.

hanks for all h great comments everyone. I to give kudos to Jason Hatfield for helping me to get the right settings for this shot and HUGE kudos to our own David KIngham for his night presets for Lightroom. If you are interested in night photography presets, you cannot beat these and he even has a tutorial on how to use them, Just go to his website and go to the blogs to find the presets and tutorial.
Absolutely beautiful Jack! Glad to hear you finally got some time to relax and get away from the stress. Thanks for mentioning David's presets. I am going to check it out.
