With all the hot weather we've had the last couple of weeks, everything is way ahead. The Camas has actually peaked in many places, though there will be plenty of good specimens for closeups for another week or two. I'm afraid by the time the coming rain disappears there will be no more broad swaths of acres of blue left. To counteract that, many other plants are coming on. I saw my first Death Camas today and the first Sisyrhinchium. The Larkspur is in bud and the Garry Oaks are starting to leaf out.
Here's a white Camas among the blue. Taken this morning on our local preserve where there's 700 acres of Camas(which will be open to the public Saturday-see prairieappreciationday.org).
