Sand and Coal
The forecast for Monday and Tuesday was for 30% chance of scattered thunderstorms, so Shane McDermott, Peter Coskun and I went atop the Vermilion Cliffs in hopes of some dramatic skies. Sunsets were blocked out, but we enjoyed the lemonade.

Some additional images from the trip are in a website gallery if you would like to look.

#3 Canyon of Coal

Sunset Tuesday night appeared as if it was going to be blocked out by clouds on the horizon, so we decided to head to a canyon south of Tuba City in hopes of a sunset and a shorter drive to Flagstaff that evening. The sun did break through the clouds for several minutes before hiding for the evening.

Just finished browsing the new stuff Doug, great images, but with locations like these it was hard to screw them up. Definitely was a fun few days catching the light and can't wait to do another trip in the future. I'm still going through my images from here.

Very nice. I haven't been to either location. I would have liked to come along on the roadtrip but had gigs both days here in the valley. Headed out for a loop through Idaho's Sawtooth area next month.

Really like that 1st one, talk about dramatic lines! That would make for an interesting location for som sci-fi movie!

Thanks for the comments. I will need to go back and tweek some images, especiallly the Coal Mine Canyon shots. Possibly some more contrast and less midtone brightness so they are not so flat.

Great set of images Doug! My favorites were Vortex and Beyond and Life on the Edge, I loved the great depth in that one, it has great light and dimensionality.
