Marbled Duck (or as used to be known, Marbled teal)
Once a real rarity down to something like 30 pairs only in the 1980's, now made a very good comeback I was surprised at the numbers at the Santa Pola Saltpans with groups of up to 8 buzzing about.

Olympus E-500, Nikon 300mm F2.8 AIS (600mm equivelent), at F8 manual focus  ISO 400 usual tripod and sidekick noise ninjad - the more observant will notice extension of canvas to left to give more space, not quite colour matched. Heavily sharpened but just about OK for web.

Hi Mike

The last time I was in that part of Spain was in the early eighties and I only saw one - nicely taken!

Hi Mike

Great technique to get an image this good using manual focus. I can't focus properly on something stood still, let alone flying. Good to hear this species is apparently doing well.

cheers
