The Gate Keeper
Waiting for a barn owl to turn up last night when this sparrowhawk appeared on the gate post

70% of original and a bit of sharpening on the hawk to make it stand out a little,

1Dmk4 400 - f2.8 mk2 - 2xmk3 converter - ISO 320 - f5.6 - 1/800
resting on some pipe lagging on the Landy window

Thought it a bit early for the fluttery type
Definately worth viewing the biggie !
Nice scenery too!

Hey Bob I really like this great shot of a bird in it's habitat so different.

On the small version sharpness seems to be gone. On the bigger one it's a tad better but still there seems to be some loss of detail in the Sparrowhawk. Perhaps it's due to the use of the 2x converter.
Like the framing by the trees and bushed though and the intense look on the bird.

Thanks fellas.

Jeroen, this was a long shot and not on a bean bag or a tripod  Also I actually like the effect as it looks more like a painting than a super sharp hawk.

It is a great shot, but like others I prefer the big version.

Bob

As it often happens the larger version makes all the difference nevertheless its a different take and all the better for it.
