One more of the weekend trip to Bend. This time it isn't the city, just a graphical "bend" in the river I shot. This was a toughie to get to, but seemed worth the effort. The water to the side and behind me had the most incredible aquamarine color. Thanks for taking a look!
I agree this has a nice bend in the river and am hoping to see some of that nice aquamarine color you mention. But for the most part I am not getting any feeling from this image. I have liked your other recent posts from the area, but this for me is lacking something visually to keep my interest. Sorry.
Ned, I usually love your stuff - even when the water is exposed to a complete big soft white blur as is very popular, but this one doesn't grab me the same. Would it be better if the water actually showed a more natural texture with the ripples and going around the rocks and such? I think I get stuck in the big white blur which holds my attention in the foreground, when in reality there is a lot beautiful detail at the sides and in the background.
Your're right - the color of the water is very pretty.
Thanks for the comments, everyone. That swirl really caught my eye, and was what drew me there. Knowing that the lead of the stream could make a curving exit at the top was another appeal to me. I think now that if I could had a higher perspective, (not at all possible in this instance without a ladder), I might have pulled it off better..
Ned,
Good eye for this s curve action. but I've got to agree with the rest. This doesn't really wow me too much. Some scenes are near impossible to bring home the essence of the area.
Ned, the first thought that I had when viewing this photo was that it would look great as a 10:4 pano. I did the famous "screen crop" to simulate and immediately felt a wow factor. As is, like the others before me stated, there is just not enough to keep my vision.
