Fluid/video head with 500/4

Anyone got any experience of running a fluid video head with a 500/4 for video footage (not stills)? I've been taking some video using the gitzo+wimberley, but it's not really ideal for smooth pan/tilts. I've looked at some of the manfrotto heads, but I'm not sure how they'd cope with the extremes of using them with long lenses.

Anyone got any useful comments they can share?

Hi Nick I use the Manfrotto 500 Pro Fluid Video Head with flat base. The 500 has a pre-set counterbalance of 2.4kg, but is able to support equipment of up to 5kg but I have had the 600f4 on it and it was fine the counterbalance dose not work very well with the 600 on it though   .

Hi Nick,

I am using an old Sachtler Video 14 head wich is great for both photography and film with my 600mm F4 lens.
It can carry up to 15KG like many of the older Sachtler heads wich are being offered at reasonable prices second hand.

Greetings,

Hi Nick. I have the Manfrotto 503HDV and it works well with a 500
