This year's Spring Fling was about half the size of previous events but we had a great time, nonetheless. Seven of us did the hike to False Kiva where, as you've seen in Bill's gorgeous photo, the conditions did not suck. This photo shows the crew that made the hike, minus Bill and me, standing at the back of the alcove waiting for zee light to arrive. (Inside joke)
I'd like to say a special thanks to photographer and digital marketing expert Wesley Picotte for taking the time to deliver an excellent presentation on SEO for photographers. Wesley's blog, Natural Apertures, is a top-notch resource for photographers who want to learn more about using SEO to gain an online advantage.
Thanks to all those in attendance. I had a great time hanging out and photographing with you all!
Thanks again to Bret for organizing the Fling. For the Kiva trip, "zee" light did turn out quite nice as displayed by Bill's image. No doubt all those camera's "clicking" disturbed the tranquility of the experience (another inside joke), but will always be a memorable shoot. It was also great to put a face to several names!
Big thanks Bret for putting this together again. It was a good group to hang out with and we all got to experience the stellar light at the Kiva. Thanks everyone for the kind words about my image but Mr. Edge has a spiffy version of his own complete with an appearance by our old friend, Phil Pflash. Looking forward to seeing a HUGE print of that one next time I visit the gallery. As always, Bret's willingness to share his knowledge of local conditions and locations was a great help to the rest of us. Let's do it again next year!
And BTW, I sink zere EES somme laht zere.
Thanks Bret for dragging us around, lining up the great speaker and posting this pic (oh - and calming my anxious nerves the whole way on the hike!) I'm SOOOOO glad you and Rod kept twisting my arm all day to get me to go. I really would have kicked myself had I not gone. It was fun hanging out with you and meeting all the others.
May zee light always be goot for you, and the shutter clickings not disturb you
Thanks for organizing it, Bret! I'm happy (for you) that most of the weekends that I get down to Moab and stop in the gallery, you're out with clients, so it was good to chat. Don, Bill, Angela, Josh, Ken, Rod, Bill -- good to meet you and some of the Colorado contingent. ("How do you know it's springtime in Moab? The license plates turn green.") Awesome that you guys got good light over at the Kiva.
Joe,
Evidently as the group was hiking in, a photographer was leaving and said something like, "Zee light is gone. No more." Proving once again that you can never truly count out the possibility, or the benefit of a little good luck with the weather.
