Just back from a holiday in the Cairngorms and managed to spend some time in my usual corrie with the ptarmigan. Found a very confiding female who was very comfortable with my presence. This was taken after she had finished a preening session and was looking over her shoulder The moult into summer plumage is well under way with the vermiculated feather pattern looking superb. Hope you had a great time, Im off to the Cairngorms later this year, never been looking forward to it. This looks wonderful. I have never seen a ptarmigan in summer colours before and it is quite special. Just a tiny thing but i would enhance the catch light in the eye, It is there in the biggy but it would really bring her life. Apart from that i think it is a cracker
On the larger image you can see reflection of the sky but as the conditions were cloudy there was no catchlight. On the smaller image the eye looks like a black lifeless hole and I think a catchlight does lift it. I have posted the image with one. What do you think?
Hadnt thought about the catchlight on first viewing. I can actually see the sky in the original small image but I do have an exceptional screen The addition of the catchlight in the repost does certainly lift what was already a great image
Nick it does just lift it a bit and I must say that I do like the bg and oof stone in the foreground its a cracker of an image that really rocks my boat
