No one has ever shown me how to include a link in an email. Lets just say I wanted to share NPN and wanted to include it in an email or any other message I don't know how to attach it so that its in blue so people can just click on it rather than type it in. If its not to much trouble could someone help me with this.
Hyperlinks will be 'active' (underlined and in blue) only if the e-mail program supports HTML (or one of the extensible markup languages). If the e-mail program uses only plain text, the hyperlink will need to be either typed in, or copied and pasted into a browser.
So, look at your e-mail program and see if it supports HTML (or one of the extensible markup languages, such as XML). If it does, look for the 'insert hyperlink' icon (it may be a globe with a chain link, or something similar. A dialog box should pop up asking for the hyperlink. If you are using MS Outlook, click the 'Insert' tab and then click 'Hyperlink'.
Right, make sure that when your email form is up on the screen and you're typing your message, that you aren't in Plain Text mode for the body of the message. You can't make a link in Plain Text mode.
BTW, what program do you use for email (i.e., Outlook 2007, Windows Mail, etc), or are you getting to your mail in a web browser? Once we know what you use to send/receive, it'll be easy to give you the steps..
Jack, I have a Comcast email account that I've never used, but just logged in and sent an email to my regular email address and confirmed it's very easy. Simply type in the website address and send the email, the email program automatically creates a hyperlink. I simply typed in:
www.frickephotography.com
and sent the email, when I received it, it was blue and underlined and the hyperlink worked.
Alternately, in case my previous post doesn't work, I clicked on "New" in the email program to start a new email. When the window opens up there is the TO: text box, the CC: text box below, and the Subjext text box below it. Below the Subject text box there is a menu bar that has font, font size, etc. Near the right end of that menu bar, second from the end, there is a green and blue globe with a little square on it, when you place your cursor over it reads "Insert Link", click on it and a window comes up titled "Link Properties". It has two text boxes, the top one is for "Visible Text", this is what you type in for the hyperlink to say whatever you want, for example "Jack's Website". The second text box is titled "Link target", this is where you type in the webpage address. After you type it in there is a "Test" button just to the right of the box you just typed in. Click on that and it will open the link you typed in. If it is right hit the OK button at the bottom and it will insert the link in the body of your email.
