High on a mountain top
D7000 300mm f4 + TC14e ISO 200 1/1600s at f6.3 handheld.

Very early start yesterday (4.30am ) to make the most of a superb sunny spell and summited the mountain (3,700') at 8.00am. Came across this Dunlin further along the plateau who was extremely confiding and spent a half hour getting a few shots. I like this one as the blue sky really sets the birds plumage off.

Many thanks for the comments on my squidger image.

They are funny birds, usually I find them very skittish, and then suddenly you come across one that will walk over your boots of you let it. The dry vegetation and the blue sky set off the colours of the bird beautifully.

It probably wasn't expecting to see anyone up there at that time of the day David!

Thanks Bob, very kind of you to say so.

Agree with, Bob. Also, I love the size of the bird in the frame, and your choice of comp is spot on and works a treat. Quality image, Nick.
