Brown Pelican - Galapgos Islands
The Brown Pelicans on the Galapagos Islands are among the very few few critters NOT unique to the Islands. This is the same species found all over the world..but somehow they seem more beautiful in breeding colors there...., among the boobies, lizards, and turtles.

Sandy he is wonderful... I think the ideal would be to have a more simple background, but this doesn't bother me at all because he is sharp as a tack out front of it all.

I think I'd crop it just below it's shoulders, Sandy, I think it's eye/neck/beak is really where you want the viewer to focus.

Jeez...what can I say when Janet and Mark take the words right outta my mouth!

As Mark suggested, I'd recommend a crop just below the shoulder and perhaps, if there is some more area in the RH side of the frame, I'd leave a bit more to give some space in front of the face. The exposure and focus on the head is great.

Thanks for the good suggestions..Here is is attempt #2. There was an really ugly bunch of tree junk to the immediate right, so leaving more room on the right was not an option, sadly. I cropped as high on the shoulders as possible, to still preserve the ratio for a 7x5 or 8x10 print.
Better?

Sandy, albeit a minor variation from the first posting, I really prefer the updated version.

I too prefer the second version. I'm curious to hear about your travels to these islands. I know that there has been alot of studies done on eveloution and adaptation here. Your posts really grab my interest. I someday hope to make it to these islands.

Very nice, Sandy! Sharp where it counts and the colors are great. I'll go along with the rest and choose the second cropped version...

The second crop gets my vote as well. Very nice.
