I'm still pondering this move and was wondering if any of you that have done it could share how much of a difference there is for your wildlife shooting. I'm thinking of waiting for the still mythical D400 possibly showing up this fall, in order to get the presumably bigger buffer.
I upgraded from 7 year old D300 with over 100k shutter clicks. and decided to upgrade to newest ver. of 70-200mm f/2.8 lens while I was at it.(with lens I rec. 1k discount against new model from my supplier!).
I truly love the new setup. it is faster to acquire focus and follow-up shots don't "roam" if/when I remove finger. (I am not a fan of C focus; just using the old finger for a series). I had the most recent version of 2.0 TC so no change there but I believe it worked better with this new ver. of the lens.
the low light shots are much better too.
And of course when I crop on that bird in the sky I have more pixels to work with in LR too. you can really see the diff. between 10 and 24mb!
this was taken with the new rig-on Anastasia Bch. St. Park, St. Augustine, Fl.
good luck to you and have fun. I am awaiting Thom Hogan's eBook on this one.............
