I haven't done one of these yet, and was wondering if there's a consensus on which operators or tours are the best for finding and photographing sea life. Both http://mysticseacharters.com/ and http://www.islandmariner.com/ seem like they're good possibilities for me, as leaving from Bellingham or Anacortes is straightforward for me.

Thanks,
Jeff

I went on one of the whale cruises out of Bellingham a couple years ago but I can't find the name of the cruise line. I don't know how much difference it makes since about a dozen different boats were there following the same Orca pods. For my trip, the most important thing was getting in the right position.

My boyfriend and I took the Western Prince out of Friday Harbor last October and saw more than 60 whales (at least 3 pods) in about 3 hours. Staff was fantastic, but if we hadn't had such great luck on the timing, the trip would've been just another nice boat ride. Not sure if they depart om Anacortez or just FH.

Thanks for the replies, if I get the time I'll try a couple of them. Right now I'm leaning towards Island Mariner out of Bellingham and/or Mystic Sea Charters from Anacortes as my first, as I mentioned. I'll post an update if I get out there.
