Its been a while since I posted anything, I've been working on a few new projects and just not had time to post.
Recently I bought a MP-E65/MT-24 setup and I've been practising for quite a few weeks with it. Its not easy, but when you do get the focus right, the detail is impressive.
One from today, a Spotted longhorn beetle. 3 images stitched together in CS6. 7D, MP-E65, MT-24 flash, handheld. 1x magnification, f16, 1/200sec, ISO200. Processed in CS6, with Nik Color Efex pro and Dfine 2.
Brilliant stuff Paul ! Glad someone else is doing the ugly stuff !! Justwhat this forum needs. ! When you say stitched - do you mean stacked ?
Cheers

Thanks for the kind comments. I'll certainly be posting more macro from this new setup, so more ugly stuff on the way John!
The beetle was a large one and since I only had the MP-E65 in the bag, I took 3 shots of the beetle and stitched them together side by side. I was pushing it at f16, but the original RAW's look very good, very little diffraction effects. I wouldn't try this past 1x magnification though.
Its not an easy lens Andy, but you'll love the results if you persevere with it.

Very envious of the set up too, a lens I aim to own one day

Shame the DoF isn't quite nailed, but excellent work in progress.
