RRS BH-40 problem

I had a twist-clamp model and bought a lever one becuase everyone said how much easier and quicker they were to adjust.
The lever does not clamp tight enough on my Arca-Swiss camera foot.
The camera easily slips out.
I don't see a way to tighten the clamp.
Am I missing something?

Thanks -

Sandy

If you can return the lever clamp version do it. Unlike the screw clamp, the lever is intended to work only with RRS plates - there is no way to adjust it. If you like the convenience of the clamp, the other alternative is to replace all your plates with RRS.

I have a BH-55 with lever lock and am using with Wimberly and Kirk and RRS plates on an assortment of gear with no issues at all so I don't think it's correct that the lever lock only works on RRS plates, In fact I even use a Wimberly Sidekick with my heavy 1D Mark IV with 500 lens and have no issues.

It would seem to me that a call to RRS would be the best course of action as there must be something wrong with yours. I'm not aware of any adjustment. Good luck and do post results.

We found a solution, if anyone else ever encounters this -
There are several little washers between the lever and the body of the head. Adding one tiny little lock washer (opening it up slightly, slipping it on, then tightening it up again) produced just enough moderation of the space so that the lever tightens more.
We put the washer in the middle of the 5 already there, so the smooth surfaces at each end from the original washers remained intact.
