Violet Green Swallow
We see a variety of swallows at the Ridgefield Refuge including lots of tree and barn swallows. For some reason the violet-greens have eluded me for years . . . . until today!
This fellow took a brief rest atop a tree stump and although the image may not be as sharp as I would like, I'll take it for now till something better shows up. He was about 80 ft away and being small I had to crop this about 45-50% to keep him from being lost in the photo.

Terrific. You may not think he is sharp enough, but he certainly knows how sharp he is. Great capture.

Jim said a good piece above! Love it. Congratulations on the capture, Craig. That's exciting. I've never been able to see the colors so well as in this photo, so thanks for sharing.

This is a treat! Thanks for sharing... well done. Great getting the head turned and eye towards camera with a little crescent catch light.

Excellent job on getting all the colors to pop, Craig. You have to catch the light just right to do that. Excellent detail for that distance.

One of my favorites! I love the way the light can catch the beautiful color of the rump when these guys perch. You caught it perfectly! :toast:
