White Helleborine
Took a trip to a local reserve for a bit of orchid phoptography, the conditions were not perfect , a bit windy and bright. To re-enforce the late spring we have had a few pasque flowers were in bloom as well

White helleborine, Olympus E-3, 50mm F2 macro, iso 200, 1/60s at F4, tripod, full frame

Very nice shot Mike, nice and sharp. Minor nit: the fence line in the BF is a little distracting. :toast: :toast: :toast:

Nice and sharp as Paul has said Mike. Never seen one before. Do the flowers open out?

Nick, yes, this is only in bud it was a touch early, that said this is in my mind the pretty phase of the flower, the opened flowers are a bit boring .

The reserve is one of BBOWT's famous ones, it has a mixture of specialist chalk and relic ice age species in a single site. The sites target species will follow over the next few days........ I first went there in 1980 as my first introduction to practical conservation work, putting in a fence line to keep cows out

I didn't even notice the fence line until I read Paul's comment! I am no flower expert, but I do like the delicate colours here, and agree that a helleborine is more interesting in bud than in flower.

It looks good to me Mike although I would be tempted to tone down the grass at the bottom right side
