A small experiment
20D, 180/3.5 macro, ISO800, 1/15 @ f5.6, resting on beanbag, Remote, MLU, Angle finder C, C1pro + CS2.

Hi,

Dull and wet again this evening, so headed out to a local pond to try slow shutter speeds out on the local residents.

Attempting to convey a sense of movement whilst maintaining some sharpness in the image, this I think is the best compromise that I managed.

All the best

Eye like it!!! Wonderful focus on the frog's eye. Definitely a change from the usual frog
portraits.

Nice try Phil. I like it. Did you consider to replace the green BG on the right with the reds of the top and left BG?

I like this, it is different that the normal stuff. I would suggest that the green be replaced as well ... kudos

Really nice Phil. Love the colous, bold composition, and close-up focus on the frog... :toast:

Big in the frame and pretty atmospheric........my kind of shot.
Any lower and you'd be blowing bubbles:wink:
Can't comment on the reds and greens as they all look the same to my colour blind eye.

Well its certainly an effective picture with lots of impact Phil but I'm not convinced it imparts a sense of movement - think I would prefer it straight with a bit more DOF.

Cheers for the comments, just going through a bit of self discovery I suppose, trying to get that bit extra from my images, as I said this was an experiment, I will of course be giving it another go as I feel there is potential that just needs to be exploited better.

I have had this feeling for a while that I want to get that little bit extra in my images, I know that I can produce a technically good image but feel that I should be pushing the boundries further for more dynamic images, I decided that as well as technically good images I would try for more for that extra something, not quite there yet........

I guess I should say watch this space...

All the best & again many thanks to all of you who take the time to comment good or bad, it is always gratefully accepted.

I think it works very well phil - although I won't be trying it out myself after dropping my camera into my pond last sunday! I am staying well clear of water for a while
