Sunny Sanna
D7000 16-85mm @ 20mm ISO 100 1/250s at f11 handheld. Cropped to pano.

Taken yesterday during my lunch break. The white houses in the distance are part of the small crofting township called Sanna located on the far west coast and from here the next stop is America. I have travelled extensively in the Highlands but IMHO this is the most attractive beach with its backdrop of the small isles, Rhum, Eigg & Canna with Sye just visible at the back. I have chosen this one as there is a solitary person walking at the tide line on the far left which lends to the scale and remoteness of the scene. A slice of the tropics in Scotland!

Very nice shot reminds me more of Cyprus with that blue clear sea. Lovely. Gotta see large too as the solitary figure on the beach gives real perspective! :toast:

I agree, you need to view this shot large to get the best out of it. It may look like Cyprus, but I bet the sea is a bit colder!

Great stuff Nick, it makes me just want to jack it all in and head up there  Maybe I am a bit odd, but in my view the pic is better without the lone figure as it interferes with my personal feeling of how remote the place looks

Thanks fellas!

Bob, my thinking behind the solitary figure was that with the visible croft cottages in the distance this could be one of the crofters and I felt that a lone figure on such a beautiful beach made it feel more remote than if the beach had been empty. This is not a wild place and I have deliberately included the croft cottages as they are part of the history of this landscape and certainly for me help make Sanna what it is, a truly beautiful part of Britain and one that I hope remains so. Like you I normally prefer to see landscape shots empty of people but I think in this case it adds to the picture. That's my rationale for what its worth anyhoo. Its funny though because with one click of my mouse I could clone out that figure............oh the power!!

Such a beautiful shot, Nick. I agree with Bob re the person on the beach, just a personal taste thing I guess.

Lovely vista and the pano works really well. I am unsure on the chap after reading people's thoughts but my initial thought would have been to clone him! Lovely shot either way :toast: :toast: :toast: :toast: :toast:
