I have a toss up between this shot and another I took of him bending down burying a nut, in that one his face is in a hole up to his eyes which I liked but have a feeling others may not for that exact reason that you cant see the whole face. So here he is in a gerneic squirell pose instead :)

Where is this taken? Our group of conservation volunteers do occasional work at Formby Point where there is a colony including some melanistic ones. Unfortunately no decent photos (yet) of the black ones.
Thats the place, Formby. It was great, although would be better in the week when there are less people about to scare them off - and less barking dogs too!
I recently tried out Formby and was horrified by the screaming kids, nattering grannies and the monkey nuts! Nasty atmosphere. Most of the squirrels are dark furred (they're introduced rather than true Brits). Your image looks a little yellow. I would try to preserve some of that lovely shady blue cast you get there. Well done in finding one that prefers peanuts!
Looks like a yellow cast made by a warm daylight setting on your white balance. Maybe try cooling the Kelvin temp down a touch. Nice pose and good clean background, shame about the movement on the paws.
I visit Formby regularly through the winter when the squirrels have thicker coats, the tree canopy is thinner (so there is more light) and there are less dog walkers and kids. Also good for rabbits and small passerine inc. Goldcrest.
I'm colour blind but the cast is quite pronounced to even me.
Classic pose, and with reasonable diagonals to help with accent........I'd be tempted to crop a good chunk of the base though.
Well I have to say, I'm viewing on a different monitor now and the colour cast is more obvious! Might need to have a little fiddle with my monitor me thinks. I use auto white balance but I guess it got thrown off a little on this occasion. I'll stick up my other squirrel pic when I'm back home to see what you make of that, I prefer it as its has Mr Nuts actually doing something other than the classic sitting eating a nut pose.

I hadn't noticed a yellow cast, this was just how the shot came out. Possibly something to do with the flash?
