I took Friday off and made a quick getaway to Capital Reef this past weekend. The weather was great and I got a couple long hikes in. Thought I would share a couple photos from the weekend and get your thoughts. They are here.

I really like the color in the first shot, and the Claret Cup is cool too. :toast:

Very cool Jason! I too like the Claret Cup shot! You're getting me all jazzed with these images, as I'll be there myself this weekend! Can't wait!

Very cool. It's actually Capitol, not Capital. Other than the Claret Cups - Beavertail, Prickly Pear, and Fishhook cacti are also in bloom right about now.

Watch out for snakes!

Thanks for the comments everyone. This was the first time I had been west of the Moab area in Utah and the entire San Rafael Swell area was beautiful. I wish I'd had time to stop at Goblin Valley State Park. Hopefully next time!

Guy - Thanks for correcting me. I actually knew that but it is one of those things that just happens every time I type it.

Jason, cool that you could get to that area! Lot's more to see obviously! When you do head back, and to the Goblin Valley area, be sure to check out Little Wild horse Canyon, and well as the area behind the San Rafael Swell. Awesome area for sure!!! Here are a few shots from LWH
