New Improved REPOST
:wavey:

Spent an early morning here watching the sun break through and light up the valley earlier in the year.

Took a lot of shots waiting for the light to hit the whole viaduct.... it was blowing a gale and clouds were whipping through, sky went from almost clear to heavily overcast in a minute... so cold i hid in car and fired the camera via remote through window

as ever c&c welcomed :toast: :toast: :toast: :

Fantastic view and natural zig zag leading lines through to the viaduct and hill valleys beyond which leads the eye through the image

My only nit is the heavy cloud, for me the image looks more balanced to me if cropped just above the hill line to exclude - its a different "mood" to the rest of the image. - did you use a ND grad or is this natural storm cloud coloration

I dont use filters the cloud colour is the morning sun. I have a number of shots with different cloud formations as I said the sky was constantly changing so I do have a lighter sky, I have had similar thoughts which was why I decided to post been staring at it for as long as a week on and off trying to make up my mind! but I do like the drama in this one and think the dawn colour runs through entire image, if that makes sense. Interested in views... I do think the image needs a sky though... Cheers for the feedback :toast: :toast: :toast: :toast: :toast:

It's a nice shot Phil. but something doesn't quite work with it for me.

I'm not sure if it's the fact that the viaduct is central in the frame and that means that the ground and the sky have equal prominence. I think you needed one or the other to be strongest to take the shot to the next level, especially with such a heavy dark sky.

Pretty shot though and well done for sitting it out to get it... not sure I'd have had the patience!

Looks good Phil but I agree there's some thing about the sky that seems a bit over the top. Can'tput my finger on t.
Great shot though.
Cheers

:wavey: Thanks for the honest feedback, as i said i had a few worries myself but couldnt place them so really appreciate teh advice... anyway based on the suggestions particularly the moving viaduct to a third and reduced contrast in and amount of sky, and a bit of reduced contrast overall and just felt it suited it... anyway all achieved with a small crop less than 400px on long edge and when the file was over 7000 to start with thats Ok i think and a quick reprocess.... comments welcomed.... :toast: :toast: :toast: :toast:
