So, after some 35 years of living in Colorado I have decided to pack up and head for the PNW. Starting in a week I'll be living in the city of Olympia, which seems to be about 2 hours from everything, I've been on this board for so long, I think I was probably still using film. Since I am terrible about interacting with new people I'll probably still participate here often -- especially when I miss my favorite mountains. The PNW board seems pretty boring in comparison, so I hope no one minds if I post up some Washington stuff once in awhile. I have actually spent only 1 week in Washington my entire life, so if anyone has some good spots they want to share please let me know! And yes, I just bought a new raincoat...
New pickins! It will be great for you to explore and find those new favorite spots. Don't be a stranger.

Don't kid yourself, Paul. Eastern Washington is gorgeous, and Western Washington is nothing to sneeze at, either. Personally, I love the Olympic Peninsula, the Cascades, the North Cascades, and the Columbia River Valley.
Enjoy!

Enjoy your new digs Paul. You are welcome to post PNW images any time. Don't be a stranger!!
I love the PACNW and am jealous of your new locale!! Maybe you can help bring some life to their forum. I stop by there regularly, but all I hear are crickets!! Have fun in Washington and be sure to check out the photography books by Greg Vaughn- he's getting ready to release one for WA and his OR book is fantastic!
I moved from Denver to Portland several years ago and love it. I miss the CO mountains, but there's no lack of spectacular scenery up here, and you can go from ocean to mountains to desert in an easy day's drive.
The PNW forum is a shell of its former self - used to be one of the best relative to both activity and image quality. No longer the case, and it seems to lack the critical mass of advanced photographers that attract other participants. A lot of what I'd call 'backyard' shooting, more documentary than creative, so there's not much there to compel consistent participation or pull in new folks unfortunately....
Thanks, everyone! I finally got moved up here and have internet, so far, so good. I'm looking forward to getting out and shooting up here, I'm pretty psyched that there is a legit hiking trail in my neighborhood, and the forest is amazing when you're used to the Front Range.

Best of luck and light to you, Paul. I would love to see your work from there!
As it happens, I'm moving up to Seattle myself (from Utah). Looks like we need to get something moving on the PNW forum!

Good luck with the move!
