This bird showed up on a tree stub that provides a convenient approach to our pond. It looks like a flycatcher, but I can't ID it. Any help would be appreciated. The images were taken yesterday evening in our backyard (the south Puget Sound region of Western Washington state). I'd judge the size of the bird to be about that of a Brewer's Blackbird (much larger than the Goldfinches that shared the tree).

Thanks again,

Looks like a starling to me too, Dennis. That short tail and the bill both look right to me.

Hi Dennis,
Brian and Tjie nailed the ID as European starling. This one fledged a short while ago....................Jim.

Thanks, All. that little hook on the4 end of the bill led me astray. In retrospect I should have known it-we have plenty in the area, though they don't frequent our property much except in the February flocking season.
