Expanded questions - trying to plan - farther in advance than can be done accurately, but of necessity - Looking for late September color options that either run into - or have a gap of a few days with - color in the Whites.
This will be 100% new country for me so any trip planning info helpful. Locations logistics
Was spring early late or on time in the northern states this year and is there any linkage to fall color up your way.
I plan to drive if possible and shuttle back home by air for a few days of work before driving back.

Hi Nye - Last week and this weekend were near peak or at peak in the White Mountains NH. Mid Coast Maine has not really started yet but maybe spotty going forward (some trees fully changed, some green, some bare). Not sure about the Adirondacks and Catskills but Vermont was slightly ahead of the White Mountains in NH. Check out Yankee Magazine's New England foliage tracker. New Hampshire also has a good foliage tracker app for iPhone.
