Red Rock Sunrise
My plan was to get to Long Lake for sunrise, but they have closed the road at Brainard Lake and created new parking lots near the bridge at Brainard. That adds a mile to the hike to Long or Mitchell now. I don't know if that is permanent, or if they are just making repairs to the road the rest of the way to the trailheads. I didn't know about all of this, so I didn't allow enough time to hike another mile before sunrise. I went back to Red Rock Lake and shot sunrise from there. The water lilies are blooming, but near the end of the bloom, I believe. There were shooting stars, paintbrush, and many other varieties of wildflowers around the lake.

C&C welcome on this one. I'm not caring for the rocks so close to the edge of the frame on the llc, but don't like any crop to remove them so far. Anything else need improving?

P.S. Dang! I forgot to do dust removal.

Thanks, for looking,

Morris

Hi Morris, the foreground, trees and mountain looks great but the sky appears a bit muddy. I especially like the line of yellow water lillies that brings some pop to the interior of the image but I can't get over the murky, gray, uninviting sky. I might recommend a white balance blend here for the sky. Keep your foregound and trees however change the bland sky to your liking and then blend the two together. Just a thought.

Thanks, Kane. Yeah, the clouds with the color were the other direction and earlier. I got a few shots that way, but with no clouds over the peaks, I waited until later to shoot this. I like where your head is at with changing the white balance on the sky only.

Beautious Maximus, MM!

With the rocks on the left edge, I wonder if the brighter redness of the upper one was reduced then the eye may not notice them as much. Aside from the grayish sky, I like the purplish tone of the mountains.

Very nice shot of Red Rock, Morris--no nits from me!

Very, very nice Morris...love the yellow lilies. I sure hope they didn't close the road to Brainard for good. That's my favorite moose spot.

No kidding, Kurt. It's a pain if they continue to add that extra mile to get to Longs, or Mitchell. I shot 2 huge Shiras Bulls for about an hour one day at Long a few years ago.
