This is totally last minute but I leave Friday morning for six days in the Wasatch and Uinta Mountains. I've spent very little time in the area and don't really know where to start. If anyone has suggestions I would LOVE to hear them. If you would be so kind, please also indicate whether they are better in the morning or afternoon.

So far I've got:

Albion Basin
Lake Blanche
Mirror Lake Scenic Byway

And that's it. Let's hear some ideas, folks!

You might want to send an e-mail to Jeff Hackett, Bret. He just posted some photos from the Uintas, but I'm not sure it's the same areas you are asking about.

Bret,

Albion Basin and Lake Blanche both are on the west side of the Wasatch Range (i.e., facing Salt Lake City), so they're typically done as late-afternoon or sunset shots. Lake Blanche is a short enough hike that you could shoot sunset and hike out by headlamp without too many issues. Albion Basin has a nice campground right near it; as long as it's not the weekend, you should be able to find a site without too much trouble.

Mirror Lake scenic byway has opportunities for either sunrise or sunset, but Jeff Hackett posted a wonderful shot recently from sunset along Christmas Meadow.

Enjoy it, if this got to you in time.
