Its been a few weeks but in between moving my family into a new residence I finally got my Kebler Pass images processed. I still need to go back to my Zion images from late May.
This trip was pretty chill. Lots of waiting around for the light. I spent 3 full days in the area just exploring. I killed my late morning to late afternoon time by sleeping and hanging out in Crested Butte during the heat of the day. At 5:00pm it was time to drive up and down the road looking for interesting comp.

I really like your look you have created in all of these, Kane. Very unique. Kind of Uber real. I would crop the top of Blue Wave down to the yellow flowers to eliminate that distracting sliver. My favorite is Painted Grasslands with that great mix of blues and yellows. Then Tranquil Forest, then Deep Forest, then Old Wise Ones. Oddly enough, I think A Summer Forest is the weakest of these. A very productive trip.
Flower shots are real beauties. Love the yellow blue combination. Nice work Kane!

Blue Wave and Painted Grasslands are my favorites of the set. Nicely done. Morris already noted the sliver atop Blue Wave. I could see a crop of the top 20% of Tranquil Forest to put more emphasis on the floor. The Marcellina image with the yellow flowered foreground is my third pick.

"Blue Wave" and "Graceful Marcelina" stand out to me. To be honest, the shots of the aspen trunks and ferns don't click with me, but I wouldn't take that as criticism.
"Graceful Marcelina" is a wonderful grand scenic, with good light and dramatic weather, and I think the composition works well.
"Blue Wave" is remarkable, and a wonderful image. I'd only crop or clone out the tiny bits of stuff that isn't yellow flowers at the upper right edge.
I like Morris' description...über real. No artificial ingredients necessary.
All interesting and unique. That's a real plus these days!
My favorites are 'Blue Wave' and 'Graceful Marcellina', and 'A Summer Forest', 'My Path' and 'Old Wise Ones' from the aspen series.

Thanks for the comments and of course I love the critique. I developed a love for aspen forests about 20 years ago while climbing mountains. I would often plan my trips around whether or not the approach to the mountain included a nice stroll through the trees. I've always found peace in the trees. Thus I climbed basically every significant peak in the Kebler Pass area, Marcellina (twice,) West (scary!) and East Beckwith’s, Mount Gunnison, The Anthracites, Mount Guero and Storm Ridge. Back in 2006 I did a 4 day backpack in the well protected West Elk Nature Preserve and included a hike up the very remote Storm Ridge, that place is easily the largest concentration if aspens in Colorado, its just nobody knows about it. I’m very proud of my time spent in that aspen laden area but as I get older I just want to hang out in the forests, not climb the mountains. Here’s a link to my Storm Peak page at Summipost.org. If you scroll down about half way to read "My name is Kane, and I’m an addict" that will pretty much sum up how I felt back then and virtually sum up how I feel about the Kebler Pass area which is a lot bigger than most know.
Blue Wave and Painted Grasslands were last second additions to the set. I had trouble with the breezy conditions that evening and most of my shots came out too unfocused or bury. That cyan colored grass was very interesting to look at in the twilight hours but tough to shoot. I spent a lot if time thinking about cameras that have better ISO performance than my camera to have better results with those kinds of low light shots. There just so much opportunity for beautiful colors at that time of the day. The Marcellina scenic was lucky, I literally had no decent light until the last second when the mountain lit up just I time.
